Offer willing municipalities means to manage and regulate boating on their lakes and rivers so that they promote free access, while ensuring the safety of boaters and the protection of the environment.

James Maloney has lived in Etobicoke—Lakeshore for all of his adult life, serving in a variety of volunteer and public service roles. Before starting in federal politics, he served our community as Councillor of Ward 5 (Etobicoke—Lakeshore). He was first elected to Parliament in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. James continues to proudly represent and serve the constituents of Etobicoke-Lakeshore in Ottawa.

Public service and dedication to community runs in James’ blood. James grew up in a home where public service was revered and was seen as a calling to improving the lives of those around him. As the Liberal candidate for Etobicoke—Lakeshore, he continues to act on these values and advocates for middle class families, a fair justice system, affordable transportation, and a green economy.

A civil trial lawyer by training, James is originally from Thunder Bay, but has lived and worked in Etobicoke for forty years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bishop’s University, and his Law degrees from the University of Windsor and the University of Wales in Cardiff, UK.

James has a varied volunteer background. He is the former President of the Toronto Lawyers Club, served on the Board of Directors for the local Franklin Horner Community Centre and the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. He is also a proud recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

James is currently the Chair of the House of Commons’ Natural Resources Committee and sits on the Justice committee. He is also Chair of Liberals’ Toronto Caucus.
