Katie is a proud member of the Communist Party of Canada (CPC) and is looking forward to challenging the status quo and supporting the urgent left and socialist needs of people in Halifax.
Katie was born in Halifax, raised in Sydney, lived in Ottawa for many years and has a long and unswerving lean to the left. She has worked as a temporary office worker, a technology contractor, run a small business, and taken on lots of gig jobs over the years as the landscape has changed for workers in Canada. Katie has previously run for office in Halifax in both municipal (2008) and provincial (2013) elections and volunteers as often as possible with various groups within the community.
Katie is also an artist working in various mediums and enjoys being a member of a large and talented family.

The domination of the peoples of Canada by the interests of the rich and powerful is hurtling us all into a climate catastrophe, pushing more and people into homelessness, and exploiting millions of people abroad.

Only socialism can build a society where the needs of people and the environment are in harmony and where working people are in the driver’s seat. A socialist Canada is the aim of the Communist Party – fundamental social change that’s possible, urgent and worth fighting for.
Don’t waste your vote on parties that put corporate profits ahead of peoples’ needs – and rights. Strategic voting will get you more of the same – or worse.
