Businesses & Jobs

Artificial Intelligence & Data Centres

Use technology and AI responsibly to make City services faster, simpler and more efficient.

Use AI to help process applications, identify missing information, improve infrastructure maintenance, manage traffic and make City services easier to access. Technology should assist City staff, not replace accountability. Any automated system should protect privacy, be transparent about how it is used, and keep human assistance available when residents need it.

Business Permitting

Make it easier and faster for businesses to open, operate and grow in Burnaby.

Reduce unnecessary paperwork and repeated requests for information when businesses deal with the City. Create a simpler digital process where businesses can apply for permits and licences, understand requirements, check the status of an application and receive updates. City Hall should be a partner to local businesses, not an unnecessary obstacle.

Economic Growth

Attract investment, create local jobs and make Burnaby a place where businesses can grow.

Build on Burnaby's location, universities, businesses, infrastructure and skilled workforce to attract investment in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and other growing industries. Support local businesses, skilled trades, apprenticeships and new entrepreneurs. Make it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to work with the City through transparent and competitive processes.

Private Vehicles & Parking

Make it easier to get around Burnaby by car while improving traffic flow and parking.

Use better traffic data and technology to identify congestion and improve the movement of vehicles, pedestrians and transit. Review parking needs as neighbourhoods grow and make sure new development considers the impact on local streets. Work with neighbouring municipalities and TransLink because traffic does not stop at Burnaby’s borders.

Walking & Cycling

Make walking and cycling safer, more convenient and practical for everyday trips.

Improve pedestrian crossings, school-zone safety, sidewalks and cycling connections. Use better planning and data to identify areas where people need safer ways to get around. The goal is not simply to build infrastructure, but to create practical connections between homes, schools, parks, businesses, community facilities and transit.

Zoning

Make housing approvals simpler and more predictable.

Support appropriate housing choices, including small-scale multi-unit housing, while planning transportation, sidewalks, parks, utilities and community facilities alongside growth.

Make it easier for working families to afford life in Burnaby.

Support more housing choices, including purpose-built rental, affordable housing, family-sized homes and smaller homes, while reducing unnecessary delays and costs in the approval process.

Building Maintenance & Occupant Health

Support safe, well-maintained housing.

Work with the appropriate agencies and housing providers to encourage safe, healthy and properly maintained homes for residents.

Homelessness

Take a practical, coordinated approach to homelessness.

Work more closely with the Province, health authorities, neighbouring municipalities and non-profit organizations to expand shelter and supportive housing and connect people with mental-health, addiction, employment and other supports.

Encourage accessible housing options for seniors, people with disabilities, families and others who need homes designed around their needs.

Work with senior governments, non-profits and housing providers to increase housing options for people who need additional support to live independently.

Rent & Rental Stock

Support purpose-built rental housing and encourage a healthy supply of long-term rental homes as Burnaby grows.

Local Government, Planning, & Democracy

Artificial Intelligence & Data Centres

Use technology and AI responsibly to make City services faster, simpler and more efficient.

Use AI to help process applications, identify missing information, improve infrastructure maintenance, manage traffic and make City services easier to access. Technology should assist City staff, not replace accountability. Any automated system should protect privacy, be transparent about how it is used, and keep human assistance available when residents need it.

Budgeting

Make it easier for residents to see where their tax dollars go and what they are getting in return.

Create clearer public information about major City projects, their costs, timelines and progress. Strengthen procurement and contract oversight and track projects from proposal through completion. Residents should be able to see whether projects were delivered on time, within budget and as promised.

Good Governance

Reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and make City Hall easier for residents and businesses to navigate.

Create a simpler digital front door for City services so residents do not have to figure out which department handles their problem. Make it easier to apply for permits and licences, report problems, check application status and receive updates. The goal is simple: residents should not need to understand how City Hall is organized to get help.

Long-Term Plan

Plan Burnaby's growth by looking at housing, transportation and infrastructure together.

As Burnaby grows, new housing needs to be planned alongside roads, transit, sidewalks, parks, utilities, recreation facilities and other community infrastructure. Use better data and technology to understand the impact of growth before major decisions are made. Work with neighbouring municipalities, TransLink, Metro Vancouver and other governments because many challenges do not stop at Burnaby's borders.

Public Engagement

Give residents a stronger voice in decisions that affect their neighbourhoods.

Create more opportunities for residents to propose and help prioritize neighbourhood improvements such as sidewalks, playgrounds, lighting, traffic calming, parks and community spaces. Make it easier for residents to follow the progress of projects they have asked for and see what was approved, funded and completed.

Youth Engagement

Give young people more opportunities to help shape Burnaby's future.

Create meaningful opportunities for youth to share ideas and participate in community projects, consultations and local initiatives. Young people should have a chance to contribute to decisions about transportation, recreation, parks, technology, housing and other issues that will shape the Burnaby they live in.

Improve sidewalks, crossings and cycling connections, with particular attention to routes used by families, seniors and people with mobility challenges. Make it easier to walk or cycle between neighbourhoods, schools, parks, community facilities and transit.

Burnaby resident since 2015, husband and father of two daughters. Contract Manager at UBC with a background in law, project management, contracts, and procurement. Running for Council to make City Hall more practical, accountable, and responsive.

I have called Burnaby home since my family and I arrived in Canada in 2015. My wife and I are raising our two daughters here, and like many Burnaby families, we want a city where people can afford to live, feel safe, get around easily, and build a good life.

I work as a Contract Manager at the University of British Columbia, with a professional background in law, project management, contracts, procurement and financial operations. My work has taught me the importance of planning carefully, managing public resources responsibly, solving problems efficiently, and making sure people receive value for what they pay for.

I have also been active in the community. I served for several years as a Board Member of the United Nations Association in Canada, Vancouver branch. I am also involved in the growing Central Asian, particularly Uzbek, community across Greater Vancouver, where I help bring people together and create opportunities for people from different backgrounds to connect and learn from one another.

I am running for Burnaby City Council because I believe City Hall can work better for residents.

My focus is practical: reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, improving access to City services, using technology responsibly, getting better value from tax dollars, supporting housing and infrastructure that keep pace with growth, improving transportation and public safety, and creating more opportunities for residents, businesses and community organizations to participate.

I believe government should respect residents' time, money and voice. Burnaby is growing, and we need to ensure that growth leads to better communities, not simply more buildings.

My goal is simple: a better Burnaby, with less bureaucracy, better value and a real voice for residents.

Burnaby is growing, and we need to make sure our city grows in a way that works for the people who live here.

I want City Hall to be easier to deal with. Residents should not have to spend hours figuring out which department to contact, filling out the same information more than once, or waiting without knowing what is happening with their request.

I also believe residents should be able to clearly see how their tax dollars are being spent. For major projects, people should know what we are paying, how long the work will take, and whether we received what we were promised.

As Burnaby grows, we also need to plan housing, roads, transit, sidewalks, parks and other services together.

Most importantly, residents should have a real opportunity to share their ideas and help shape their neighbourhoods.

My goal is simple: make City Hall easier to deal with, make better use of public money, and make sure Burnaby’s growth works for the people who call it home.
