Labrador has an abundance of natural resources and a highly skilled workforce. The new Churchill Falls MOU empowers Newfoundland and Labrador to take back control of our energy and benefit from our resources, without financial risk. With access to more power from the existing Churchill Falls plant and increased capacity from new developments, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro will increase available power from 525MW to 1,990 MW, which is almost four times the capacity it has today.
This allows Labrador West to meet its full potential and is critical to the future success of the communities. This region is already a driving force in Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy, strengthening Labrador West’s industry and communities will benefit the entire province."
