I’m proud to have served as a Surrey School Trustee since 2014; this experience is invaluable. I would be honoured to serve for another 4 years, continuing to support our students, teachers, support staff, and administrators in making Surrey the great School District that is.
During my past 8 years as Trustee, I’ve served on a number of committees, currently on the Policy and (with all trustees) Finance committees, am board liaison to Seeds of Change Surrey, and represent the board on the BCSTA Provincial Council.
In addition to serving on the BC School Trustees Association Finance & Audit Committee, for the past two and a half years I’ve been President of BCSTA Metro Branch, until my recent election to the BCSTA Board of Directors.
My wife and I have spent most of our lives in Surrey – our families each moved here before we started school, we attended Surrey schools (we met in high school), and our son and daughter both recently graduated from a Surrey school as well. We have very strong ties to this community and its schools.
Prior to my time as School Trustee, I was a District PAC board member for 9 years, including President and Co-President for 4 1/2 years, and sat in numerous executive roles on elementary and secondary PACs for 11 years.
If reelected, I would continue to do all I can to see that Surrey receives its share of funding and that the pace of new school constructions is accelerated as much as possible. I look forward to once again attending dozens of community, district, and school events every year, in addition to the important committee and board meeting work that ensures all our diverse students have an equitable, safe, caring environment to learn in, led by our fantastic teachers, support staff, and administrators.
