I have been a resident of Surrey for the last twenty two years. Both of my daughters attended school in Surrey until they graduated secondary school. They were proud students of James Ardiel Elementary and Ecole Kwantlen Park Secondary schools.

I was a volunteer in the community for over 10 years as Coach, Director and President of the Guildford Athletic Club. At the soccer club, I focused on having an inclusive experience for all of the kids and parents that belonged to the club. It was important to me that our kids felt safe to come and learn and be a part of a positive and fun learning experience. We also worked with schools in the area and offered free after school programs to engage with kids who could not afford to play sports. We worked with community groups to help these kids achieve in the opportunity in playing at Guildford Athletic Club.

I have been a SkyTrain employee for the last twenty years. I currently hold the position of President of CUPE 7000, the Union that represents SkyTrain and Southern Rail workers. I sit on the CUPE BC Executive Board as an alternate Regional Vice-President representing the Fraser Valley region. I am the Vice-President of the CUPE Fraser Valley District Council. I sit on CUPE BC’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee and Transportation Committee which I chair. I also chair the CUPE National Transportation Committee.

As a trustee, I will bring leadership, accessibility, transparency, equity and accountability to the Surrey school system. I will work with leaders of all levels of governments to promote more funding to help build more schools and continue and expand with programs that we have in our school system. As we are the Province’s fastest growing community, we need these services sooner than later and we need to strive on working together to make sure that our kids get the most positive educational experience they so deserve. Our Students matter!!
