Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik is the founder and medical director of Hope Health Centre, a family medicine practice that provides primary health care to the Guelph community.
She is an HIV/AIDS activist and founded ARCH, a regional HIV/AIDS clinic in Guelph that offers treatment and resources for both those living with and at risk of HIV/AIDS throughout the Southern Ontario region. In 2006, she launched a campaign in Guelph that raised $1 million to keep an HIV/AIDS clinic in Lesotho, Africa, open. (The funds were necessary to prevent the clinic from closing, as the funding was being withdrawn.) From the momentum of that campaign, she established Bracelet of Hope, a charitable non-profit organization based in Guelph that delivers HIV/AIDS treatment to rural communities in Lesotho, Africa (through mobile health units) and provides homes for over 60 HIV/AIDS orphans (through their foster home program).
At the start of the COVID pandemic, she began writing Facebook posts, educating the public about the virus’s medical facts and how to prevent its spread. These posts aimed to assuage the fear propagated by misinformation and keep her cherished community safe. They gained significant traction nationwide, and Anne-Marie continues to be a voice of calm and reason during these troubling times our world faces.
