Carrie McLaren grew up in communities across Canada before choosing Burnaby as home. She holds a diploma from BCIT and a business degree from Capilano University. Carrie has served as a director of a Burnaby non-profit housing organization and currently serves on the board of her housing co-operative. Through this work, she has seen how the shortage of affordable, secure, and accessible homes affects families, seniors, and people with complex needs. Carrie is running for City Council because she believes local government can deliver practical solutions and improve everyday life. Her priorities include expanding affordable housing, strengthening the local economy, supporting inclusive and well-planned neighbourhoods, and advancing effective local climate action. She will bring collaborative leadership, sound governance, and a strong commitment to listening to residents. Carrie believes housing is a human right and that transparent, accountable city leadership can build a more affordable, resilient, and welcoming community for everyone.
