Kiran Singh is an award-winning investigative and municipal reporter with years of experience in the Canadian media.

A reporter and radio producer with CBC News, Kiran’s reporting served as a catalyst for municipal and BC-wide changes. Being CBC’s Surrey reporter, Kiran broke multiple stories, including the police transition, the need for better recreational and health infrastructure, the office of the ethics commissioner, and worked diligently to ask political leaders tough questions. Kiran’s work has earned him multiple national news awards, like the Best Canadian Local News Award and the RTDNA.

Kiran’s vision for Burnaby includes robust investments in the arts and recreation, increased political accountability, an equitable transit system, and a renewed focus on active transportation. As an advocate for people, it brings me joy to see change happen. I'm running for Burnaby city council with the same attitude, to make change happen for the better.

As a former reporter who worked on thousands of news stories, it brought me joy when I was able to elevate the voices of those who were often not hear from. It made me happy when systemic changes took place as a result of my work.

I am passionate about making my neighbours lives better, to leave the world a bit better than I found it. This is what drove me to become a reporter in the first place, and this is the exact feeling I have as I think about possibly representing Burnaby and its residents on city council.

With this in mind, I am putting myself forward for this role. I recognize that this is a place that can push for better change, where advocacy meets policy, and where impactful decisions could be made.
