I was born and raised in Burnaby and chose Coquitlam as the place to settle into my “adult” life: putting down roots in Central Coquitlam, raising my daughter and son, diving deeply into my community. 

After graduating from SFU with a Business degree and enjoying rewarding careers in retail banking and Human Resources, I decided to seek elevating my community service to that of a City Councillor. I am honoured to have been elected in the 2014 general election and again in 2018.

I have remained very active in the community outside my role on City Council and have received numerous awards in recognition of my leadership, volunteerism and community involvement. The most recent one, the Community Partner award was presented to me by Coquitlam Search & Rescue. This was in recognition of my continuing advocacy and support, including my efforts to establish a “National Search & Rescue Day”.

Some Other Community Involvement and Volunteer Roles:

• Co-founder, currently run, Tri-Cities Friends of Refugees Society
• Serving on BC Ministry committee, “Tri-Cities Together” on interculturalism, against racism/hate
• Volunteering on Habitat for Humanity housing Family Partnering Committee
• Started up the Poirier SunRun Training clinic in 2013 as clinic manager; now a clinic running leader every year
• Served two terms on the Community Volunteer Connections board
• Served on 19 PACs, 10 years on District PAC executive while my children attended K-12 in SD43
• Active member and past president of Talk of the Town Toastmasters Club
• Installed and now steward a Little Free Library in the Burquitlam Community Garden
• Extensive involvement volunteering whenever possible for a wide variety of community organizations including SHARE, 55+ BC Games, Shoreline CleanUp, Operation Red Nose and more
