As a current Delta School Trustee, registered veterinary technician and mother of three, Masako Gooch brings compassion and practical leadership to public education. She is committed to safe schools, strong family partnerships and helping every student reach their potential.

Masako Gooch is committed to ensuring every student in Delta feels safe, supported and able to focus on learning because when students feel they belong, they can reach their full potential.

First elected to the Delta School Board in 2022, Masako has focused on building strong, inclusive school communities and strengthening relationships between families, educators and the school system. She is known for her collaborative approach and her commitment to open engagement and accountability.

Masako has been a strong advocate for inclusive, welcoming schools where every student feels respected and supported. As she has said, “When every child feels they belong and are supported, they can focus on learning and reach their full potential.” She supports continued progress through Delta’s Justice and Equity Action Plan, with a focus on transparency, measurable outcomes and meaningful dialogue with families and the community.

Masko’s approach embodies One Delta’s commitment to leadership rooted in care, collaboration and community connection.

As a trustee, Masako is focused on strengthening core literacy and numeracy, expanding mental health and wellness supports and ensuring both students and educators have the tools they need to succeed. She believes that strong relationships between schools and families are key to student success and works to ensure those connections remain open and responsive.

Masako brings a background in healthcare and education, including work as a registered veterinary technician and nursing studies, grounding her approach in care, practical problem-solving and a deep understanding of student wellbeing.

A mother of three, Masako lives in Delta with her family, who will be part of the school system in the years ahead. Outside of her work, she stays active through running, triathlon training, gardening and horseback riding - all reflections of her belief in balance, health and perseverance.
