Rebecca Brushett is your NDP Candidate for Humber–Gros Morne
Raised in Marystown and living in Norris Point for the past 15 years, Rebecca Brushett is deeply rooted in Newfoundland and Labrador’s rural communities. With degrees in Marine Biology, Environmental Policy, and Education, she has spent over 20 years working in marine research, teaching, and community planning.
Rebecca’s career has taken her from studying whales off British Columbia to classrooms across the Great Northern Peninsula, to national and international work tackling plastic pollution. In 2019, she founded the Atlantic Healthy Oceans Initiative (AHOI) to support marine research, education, and coastal community resilience in western Newfoundland.
Rebecca is passionate about strengthening small-scale fisheries, tourism, and sustainable farming while preparing communities for the challenges of climate change. Guided by Gandhi’s call to “be the change,” she is committed to amplifying the voices of seniors and working families, and ensuring rural Newfoundland thrives for generations to come.
