“I would love to tell you what I think, to learn from you, to have my mind changed, and to earn your vote in this election.”
Joshua A. Singer Johnson is a lawyer, housing advocate and lifelong North Vancouver resident with experience in constitutional law, Indigenous litigation, human rights and tenant advocacy.
Josh grew up in North Vancouver and remains deeply connected to the community and natural environment of the North Shore. He first became politically active as a high school student, organizing student protests during the 2014 provincial labour dispute with teachers.
He studied History and Philosophy at the University of Ottawa before completing his law degree at McGill University. His legal experience has included constitutional and Indigenous litigation, international human rights work and providing support to tenants through housing-focused nonprofit organizations.
Housing affordability and renters’ rights are central to Josh’s advocacy. He is particularly interested in expanding public investment in housing, strengthening protections for renters and improving urban design and public transportation so younger people can continue to build their lives in North Vancouver.
Josh has also worked internationally, including as a human rights intern with the Minister of Justice of Namibia. His broader interests include participatory democracy, environmental protection and ensuring elected representatives remain accountable to the communities they serve.
Outside of his legal and advocacy work, Josh enjoys backcountry skiing, long hikes in the North Shore mountains, abstract art and repairing discarded electronics.
Josh is running in North Vancouver-Lonsdale to advocate for accessible housing, stronger renter protections, improved public transportation and environmental protection, while bringing an independent and community-focused approach to public service.
