Hi! I'm Laura! A parent to two elementary-aged children, a community volunteer, and an experienced educator. I have worked in education for my whole career, with 5 years spent in a local school district. I think a high-quality public education is critical for our future!

I’m running to be a school board trustee for the North Vancouver School District #44.

I have a MA in Environmental Education and Communication, and I have spent my career helping people to connect with nature, with each other, and with the places they call home.

My professional life has been rooted in community education, specifically outdoor, environmental, and sustainability learning. Including 5 years working in a school district, experiencing how important people are to the healthy functioning of the school system.

I am an active volunteer. As a youth baseball coach with the North Shore Baseball Association where I get to support kids as they grow, learn, and build confidence through sport. And on my school’s PAC, where I focus on fun ways to encourage safe and active travel to and from school.

I feel deeply connected to the North Shore. I’m a nature lover. You can find me and my family skiing in the winter, paddling in the summer, and on our bikes whenever we can. These experiences shape my values and my belief in the importance of community, stewardship, and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.

I believe that curiosity strengthens community: when we listen to one another, ask questions, and stay open to learning we make better decisions together. This mindset shapes how I work, how I lead, and how I show up in my community.

I’m running for School Board Trustee in North Vancouver because I believe that a high-quality public education system is essential for the future of our children, and our world.

Every day, students learn within ecosystems shaped by people, buildings, and policies; and their wellbeing depends on how well we steward these systems.

I am committed to responsible, transparent oversight of district resources, ensuring that financial and physical investments directly support student learning.

I believe that school districts should be leaders in our communities: open, inclusive, and welcoming to all learners and their families.

Most importantly, I want our district to champion the voices of students. While not yet old enough to vote, their experiences, hopes, and challenges deserve to shape the decisions we make.

I’m running to help steward a school district where every student can thrive, every family feels included, and every decision reflects our shared commitment to a strong public education system.
