Biographie
Catherine Pope is a District of North Vancouver Councillor and former investigative journalist who has spent her career asking tough questions on behalf of the public. Born and raised on the North Shore, Catherine came home after a career that took her across Canada and the UK.
Two decades as an investigative journalist with Global TV taught her to follow the facts and hold decision-makers to account. She brings the same approach to Council.
Catherine led the call for a public inquiry into the massive cost overruns at the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant. Council unanimously endorsed her motion, making the District the first municipality in Metro Vancouver to back an inquiry. She continues to fight for lower utility costs for NS taxpayers and change at Metro Van.
Since her election in 2022, Catherine has helped deliver more affordable housing, a new toddler playground, new pickleball courts and expanded recreation, safer streets, youth-centre funding and greater transparency in Council decision-making.
To tackle traffic congestion, she's pushing for a new bridge, SkyTrain, more transit and active transportation routes. Above all, she's working to keep the North Shore affordable for seniors, families, young people and workers.
Catherine served 20 years on the Victoria Foundation's Adoption and Permanency Committee and was on the board of the Disability Foundation. She champions youth mental health services and volunteered with school PACs and the NS homeless count.
Away from Council, she's a mom, pickleball player, e-bike rider, pet lover.
