Biographie
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Jim Hanson is seeking his fourth term on District Council. Jim is married to Ruth Hanson, and together they have two adult children. Jim is a practicing lawyer.
If re-elected, Jim will commit to relentlessly pursuing transportation initiatives to relieve congestion, such as his idea to pave a third lane on the Cut eastbound between Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Highway, to separate North Vancouver residents from highway/bridge traffic. He will support investments in transit and active transportation.
On housing, Jim will support development that addresses the needs of District residents (social, supportive, seniors and rental housing near transit hubs) and will not vote for large, expensive, strata development.
Jim commits to only voting for tax increases that are at or below inflation.
Jim will speak out loudly for accountability from Metro Vancouver for the North Shore Waste Water Treatment plant debacle and advocate for governance reform at Metro.
Jim has served on a variety of boards and committees, including the Policing Committee, Library Board, Heritage Committee, and the Advisory Committee on Disability Issues. Jim Chairs the North Shore Standing Committee on Substance Use.
