Businesses & Jobs
Business Permitting
Promesse de Sheldon Starrett
Fast-track business permitting - local businesses should not have to wait months to years losing money while bureaucrats take their time on permits.
Economic Growth
Promesse de Sheldon Starrett
Richmond requires a dedicate Trade & Convention centre to help facilitate commerce, and potential economic opportunities for the city, region, and country.
Jobs for young people
Promesse de Sheldon Starrett
The City should work with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, School District, and local colleges to help prioritize programs and partnerships that help local youth find jobs and get work experience here.
Small Businesses
Promesses de Sheldon Starrett
Small businesses are the backbone of the Richmond community, and city hall should be accessible and working with them to create jobs in the city, and also help local youth get jobs and work experience.
Speed up any minor permits or processes to help small businesses thrive.

Housing & Homelessness
Affordability
Promesses de Sheldon Starrett
Build more affordable rental housing.
Also work with developers and stakeholders to find pathways to making home ownership affordable (as it is more aspirational than renting for life).
Homelessness
Promesses de Sheldon Starrett
Securing provincial funding for transitional housing that is both crime-free and drug-free, and safe for our homeless - especially homeless seniors.
Will end the low-barrier Temporary Modular Housing (TMH) sites at Alderbridge & Aster Place.
Property Taxes
Promesses de Sheldon Starrett
City Council should not raise property taxes every year, and tax increases must be modest and measured. Not like the nearly 30% over the last five years.
I will commit to freezing taxes until Richmond City Hall gets to the bottom of the wasteful spending.

My name is Sheldon Starrett 謝言信 and I am running for Richmond City Councillor with the Advance Richmond Team to hold city council accountable and deliver change at city hall. On October 17th, please vote for myself and the Advance Richmond team for City Council and School Board.
I was born at Richmond Hospital and still live and work in this city. I’m running to protect our community and build a safer, stronger Richmond.
I founded Keep Richmond Safe to advocate for public safety, drug detox, and treatment. Living beside Richmond's Alderbridge temporary modular housing, I have seen firsthand the consequences of City Council’s support for failed provincial drug policies.
I’ve led local opposition to low-barrier housing models that have brought open drug use and crime into Richmond. I also opposed Council’s proposed supervised drug consumption site at Richmond Hospital, helping prompt the Premier to stop the plan.
My vision is bold but practical: improve infrastructure and city services, support local businesses, protect our parks and agricultural land, and cut red tape.
My priorities:
* End the drug sites
* Freeze tax increases
* Stop wasteful spending
* Champion affordable and aspirational home ownership
* Deliver pragmatic transit solutions
