A municipal planner, recreation leader and youth coach, Jesse Bierman has built his career creating spaces where young people can thrive. He is committed to expanding opportunities for students through recreation, mentorship and strong community connections.

Jesse Bierman believes strong communities are built by creating opportunities for young people to stay active, connected, confident and supported both inside and outside the classroom.

A municipal planner, recreation leader and youth coach, Jesse has built his career around delivering real community outcomes that improve youth wellbeing and quality of life. His work has included leading long-term parks and recreation planning and helping create community spaces that support healthy, active lifestyles for families and young people through projects such as the Tsawwassen First Nation Youth Centre and Ko Gocho Sportsplex Centre.

Currently working with the City of Vancouver’s Healthy City Strategy, Jesse helps lead major initiatives focused on social sustainability, public health and community wellbeing. His work has included contributing to Indigenous-led planning initiatives, while also helping deliver recreation infrastructure, youth programming and community spaces in both urban and remote communities. Through these roles, he has developed strong experience in strategic planning, budgeting, stakeholder engagement and collaborative governance.

Jesse believes physical literacy, recreation and extracurricular activities are essential to student confidence, mental wellbeing and long-term success. Alongside strong literacy and numeracy foundations, he supports expanding opportunities for students to build friendships, leadership skills and healthy habits that last beyond graduation.

Jesse has strong local connections through his work with Tsawwassen First Nation and as a volunteer coach with the South Delta Rams. He has seen firsthand how access to recreation, mentorship and supportive community spaces can positively shape a young person’s future.
