All children in every neighbourhood deserve a great education and access to seamless, affordable childcare. We need to make sure we are building and staffing schools in areas of the city that are growing. We need to provide the right supports for children with disabilities, and make sure our buildings and playgrounds are seismically-safe and accessible. We should encourage innovation and make the district a place people want to work and study.

Biographie
I am a lawyer and a former parent advisory committee (PAC) chair. As the parent of four school-aged children, I have learned what an important role schools play in the life of a child, and their families.
Vision goals are to:
- Expand childcare in schools
- Integrate city and school board planning so that children can go to schools in their own neighbourhoods
- Achieve inclusion for children with disabilities
- Improve consultation and engagement. People with lived experience should be involved in decision-making about programs that affect them
- Make sure our schools are seismically-safe, accessible and ready for extreme climate events
I have held several positions on my east-side PAC, including the position of chair. I advocated for many changes to my children’s local school to make it more wheelchair-accessible, including an accessible playground. I believe the district should have a plan to make sure all schools are accessible for students, staff and visitors.
I sit on the board of Inclusion BC, an organization dedicated to promoting the rights and opportunities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I understand firsthand how tough it can be to advocate for the supports our children need to thrive. If elected, I will prioritize funding enough student support workers and resource teachers, and supporting evidence-based supports and interventions.
I have found tremendous support from my children’s school community, and I would like to see a city where all children can attend seismically-safe schools in their neighbourhoods.
I am running to be a school trustee so that I can help make our district a place where families are heard and educators are supported.
