Ellis Ross was an elected Haisla Nation councillor from 2003-2011 and was then elected to chief councilor from 2011-2017. He was then elected as Skeena MLA in 2017. Ellis’s passion for economic developments comes from the passion to see people and communities succeed and is why he fully supports mining, forestry and LNG development.

Ellis Ross spent years in local industry, community organizing, coaching youth and adult basketball teams and involving himself in programs to keep indigenous kids safe from drug abuse and organized crime. In 2012, Ross was appointed the inaugural chair of the Aboriginal Business Investment Council, and has been recognized as a business leader in both BC Business magazine and the Canadian Business magazine.

In recognition of his community service, Ellis was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in 2013 and the Order of BC in 2014. Ellis Ross lives in his hometown of Kitimat, British Columbia, where he lives with his wife Tracey and is a proud father of two daughters and a grandfather of one granddaughter and two grandsons.
