A dedicated woman and long-time volunteer on a number of committees, Lyne Chantal worked in the public school system for 20 years as a resource teacher, school principal and pedagogical officer before earning her doctorate in education in 2014.

Lyne Chantal has been a professor of administration at the Université de Moncton since 2017, and lives in the new riding of Champdoré-Irishtown. She also places great importance on her family and the values that have been passed on to her. She is the proud mother of two children and has one grandchild. 

She is known for her community involvement, providing leadership from an inclusive perspective for important social causes such as social justice, equity, the establishment of environments of respect and consent, and the development of initiatives to counter family and domestic violence.

As an entrepreneur, Lyne Chantal owns a social enterprise specializing in fashion which donates a percentage of net profits to counter domestic and family violence, and is co-owner of a non-profit organization offering training on consent and healthy relationships in all environments. For Lyne Chantal, education symbolizes the key to a society that is free, respectful and committed to its development.

Professional and community involvement: Lyne Chantal is a volunteer member of several committees and research teams, including President of the Comité Femmes et égalité entre les genres of University of Moncton, a member of Advisory Committee – Woman in Leadership, Women in Business NB, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre and a member of the Academic Senate of the University de Moncton. She is co-author of a book on shared leadership to be published in June by Éditions de la Francophonie. In fact, Lyne Chantal, supported by her friends and family, organized the first “Guignolée” (door-to-door Christmas caroling to raise funds) in the Royal Oaks community in December 2023. Donations of food, gifts for children and money were given to three organizations to help families in need.

Recognition: Recipient of the 2022 Prix Blue et Or as a faculty member dedicated to student life in 2022. In recognition of her fight for social justice and against family and domestic violence, she received the 2020 Dialogue Award from the Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, and in 2022, the VIVE Community Champion Award from the New Brunswick Women’s Equality Branch and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

Implications professionnelles et communautaires: Lyne Chantal est impliquée bénévolement au sein de plusieurs comités et équipes de recherche comme entre autres elle est la présidente du Comité Femmes et égalité entre les genres au campus de l’Université de Moncton, elle est membre du Comité consultatif Leadership au féminin de Femmes en affaires du NB, a été membre du Conseil d’administration au Centre Muriel McQueen Fergusson et siège au Sénat académique de l’Université de Moncton. Elle est co-auteure d’un livre qui paraîtra en juin prochain sur le leadership partagé au Éditions de la Francophonie. En fait, Lyne Chantal, soutenue par ses ami.e.s et membres de sa famille, a organisé la 1ère Guignolée (porte à porte avec des chants de Noël pour recueillir des dons) dans la communauté de Royal Oaks en décembre 2023. Les dons reçus en nourriture, en cadeaux pour enfants et en argent, ont été remis à trois organismes visant à aider des familles dans le besoin.

Reconnaissances: Récipiendaire du Prix Bleu et Or 2022 comme Membre du corps professoral dévouée à la vie étudiante en 2022 et pour souligner sa lutte pour la justice sociale et pour contrer la violence familiale et conjugale, elle a obtenu le Prix Dialogue 2020 offert par la Lieutenante gouverneure du NB et en 2022, celui de Championne du Prix VIVE 2022 remis par la Direction de l’égalité des femmes du N.-B. et le Jubilé platine de sa Majesté la Reine Élizabeth II.
