Affordability, transit, infrastructure, bike sharing, living wages, and support for marginalized people are top of mind for me, and for many Coquitlam residents. As your City Councillor, I will put people first and work to build a smart, sustainable city, with more effective leadership and transparent government. I will protect small businesses and the arts, and push for the development of diverse housing options. As a lifelong resident in the lower mainland, I know how affordability issues affect many younger people like me, people with limited incomes, families, business owners and their employees. I have advocated for affordable housing in the Tri-Cities, regularly speaking at public hearings, pushing for responsible and more responsive development for people of all ages and incomes. As a small business owner in the construction industry, I know and understand the importance of business and employment to the continued vibrancy of Coquitlam, and believe that it is possible to have responsible development and growth. I also recognize the vital role that arts and culture play in our city. I am a passionate advocate for renewable energy, clean technology and green infrastructure. I ran as a Green Candidate in Coquitlam-Maillardville in the provincial election in 2017, and have been a commentator on CBC’s Early Edition, pushing for sustainable approaches to environmental, social, housing, and transportation issues. I am deeply committed to supporting human rights and diversity. I chair the Outreach Committee for Vancouver Pride, am the President of Tri-Cities Pride, and successfully petitioned Coquitlam Council for the rainbow crosswalk in front of City Hall. I’m ready to work hard to serve Coquitlam. As an energetic and enthusiastic advocate, a bridge builder, and a problem solver, I believe I can help Coquitlam become a more vibrant community.
