My name is Akanshaa Saxsena, and I am proud to call Mission home.
I immigrated to Canada 15 years ago and lived in different communities before moving to Mission in 2020. Although I had lived in Canada for many years, I never truly felt that I had found the city I wanted to call home—until I came to Mission.
I fell in love with Mission's natural beauty, its people, its sense of community, and most importantly, its potential.
Professionally, I bring more than 15 years of experience working in the financial sector, along with experience in customer service, administration and management. My career has taught me the importance of listening, accountability, responsible decision-making and finding practical solutions to difficult problems.
I may be newer to Mission than some other candidates, but I see that as a strength. Sometimes a growing city needs fresh eyes, a fresh perspective and the courage to ask what we can do better.

Work toward freezing property tax increases for 2–4 years, while carefully reviewing city spending and protecting essential services.
Sidewalks & Bike Paths
Prioritize sidewalks, lighting and pedestrian safety, particularly in neighborhood's that have been underserved as Mission has grown.
Economic Growth
Encourage partnerships with local businesses and organizations to create more jobs, training, volunteering and skill-building opportunities for young people.

Since moving here, I have seen both the wonderful things Mission has to offer and the opportunities we have to do better.
That is what inspired me to run for Council.
I don't want to simply point out problems from the sidelines. I want to be part of the solution.
I want to bring my professional experience, fresh perspective and willingness to listen to Council. I want residents to know that their concerns matter and that someone is willing to ask questions, challenge old ways of thinking when necessary and work collaboratively to find practical solutions.
I am not running because I believe one person can change a city alone. I am running because I believe that when residents, businesses, community organizations and Council work together, we can accomplish much more.
