From local committees in Northwestern Ontario to advocacy in Ottawa. A champion for disability rights and better transit, he’s run in multiple elections and successfully pushed for improved accessibility. Committed to Green values, he continues to fight for social justice.

John has a long history of community service, starting in his hometown in Northwestern Ontario. He was actively involved in local committees, including the Parks and Recreation Committee, and served as Chair of both the Economic Development Committee and the OPP Community Policing Committee. He also played a leadership role in organizing a major community festival.

After moving, over 20 years ago, John became involved with a local chapter of ACORN. Shortly after relocating, he developed a mobility issue that required both hips to be replaced. While awaiting surgery, he became deeply aware of the need for greater representation for people with disabilities. This inspired him to run for office several times at the provincial and federal levels, as well as in three municipal elections. Currently, he advocates for better public transit as part of the Transit Riders Group. One of his key achievements in this role was successfully campaigning for an online booking system to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

John is committed to the principles of the Green movement, including ecological wisdom, non-violence, social justice, sustainability, participatory democracy, and respect for diversity. He has represented these values in his advocacy work at federal, provincial, and municipal levels, often presenting at committee meetings to champion these causes. John lives with his wife, Susan, and their dog, Chewy.
