I’ve lived in Prince George for 30 years, and it is where my family has put down roots. My two daughters both attended and graduated from Prince George public schools, so my connection to public education here is a very personal one.

I work as a financial planning specialist. Careful analysis, asking the right questions, looking at the long-term implications of decisions, and helping people make informed choices are all part of my everyday work. Those same habits shape how I approach public service.

I first became involved in education through my children’s schools and parent advisory councils. In 2010, after my children’s schools were closed, I became more involved at the district level. That experience pushed me to learn much more about how school district decisions are made, how information is shared with families, and how important clear governance and meaningful public engagement are.

Over the years, I became increasingly involved in district-level parent leadership and education issues, eventually serving as DPAC chair. I was elected as a trustee in the 2023 by-election.

My work as a trustee has also given me the opportunity to become involved provincially. I was elected by provincial trustees to serve on the Board of Directors of the BC Public School Employers’ Association, representing the Northern Interior region. BCPSEA brings together public boards of education and the provincial government on public-school employment and labour-relations matters.

That progression, from parent involvement at the school level, to district advocacy, to local and provincial governance, has given me a broad perspective on both the concerns families bring forward and the responsibilities of a Board of Education.
