As a mother of three children spanning from elementary to high school, Vivien has a wealth of experience navigating her children through the K-12 education system. Growing up in Hong Kong, Vivien has a first-hand understanding of the Asian education system. She came to Canada for her high school studies, which allowed her to see the changes that happened for the past 30 years. On top of that, she spent ten years raising her children in America. Such exposure gave Vivien various perspectives on how to bring the Richmond school district to the next level, one that will focus on academics, competition, and internal motivation.

Vivien believes the right system can motivate students to work hard. She also believes in the joy that comes with competition, as students are required to grow and mature through the process. All kids want to do better, when their result becomes measurable.
