The goal should be to create appropriately sized, well-planned off-leash and on-leash dog-friendly spaces that meet the needs of our growing community while reducing impacts on environmentally sensitive areas.

When we invest in the right spaces - with good design, clear signage, accessible locations, and responsible stewardship - we can support both responsible dog ownership and environmental protection.

The best solutions come from listening to everyone: dog owners, neighbours, environmental advocates, and park users.

Everyone in Saanich deserves a safe, secure, permanent place to call home. Housing is not a luxury or a speculative investment; it is a fundamental human right.

When people have stable homes, our entire community thrives. Local businesses find workers, schools stay vibrant, neighbourhoods remain diverse, and our healthcare systems experience less strain.

We need to shift the conversation from what the real estate market demands to what our neighbours actually need. If we only add more housing that remains out of reach for families, seniors, and young people, we haven't solved the problem.

As public healthcare systems face growing challenges, it's more important than ever to come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore innovative solutions that support health and wellness.

That's why I'm excited to share the Community Healthcare System Playbook and Toolkit created by the Saunders Foundation in collaboration with Thrive Social Services.

It offers ideas and tools to support healthcare and emergency workers in the community while encouraging conversation about the changes we need to make for today and for Saanich's future.

When every second counts for someone experiencing a heart attack, stroke, house fire, or other emergency, every small delay matters.

As Saanich grows and we continue to redesign our roads, we need to ask if we are finding the right balance between slowing everyday traffic and ensuring emergency vehicles can reach people as quickly and safely as possible.

Kathleen is a well-respected leader in the region and gives back to her community. She believes that if she asks someone in the community to volunteer or donate their time, she should first demonstrate that she is willing to do the same and lead by example.

Why vote for me

I bring community leadership, professional and government experience, and a genuine commitment to Saanich. I understand that good local government starts with listening to residents, asking thoughtful questions, and making decisions based on evidence and community needs.

My background in not-for-profit management and legislative constituency office experience has taught me how to work with diverse perspectives, navigate complex issues, manage competing priorities, and turn ideas into action for you. I also understand the importance of transparency, accountability, and respectful collaboration.

I care deeply about the future os Saanich; it is important to protect our natural environment and strengthen our neighbourhoods by addressing housing affordability, transportation, accessibility, and the pressures facing families, students and working and retired people.

Perhaps most importantly, I'm ready to work for you. I will bring an independent voice, practical experience, and a strong connection to the community to Saanich Council. I believe residents deserve a councillor who listens, does the homework, and follows through.

I'm more than a municipal candidate. I'm a mom, spouse, sister, auntie, friend, sports enthusiast, and community builder. I don't just serve this community - I live it every day!

Not only am I running to represent the residents of Saanich, but I also call Saanich home. I raise my family here, volunteer, build connections, cheer from the sidelines, and live alongside Saanich residents every day.

While the ballot will list me as a candidate for Saanich and the CRD, the community knows me as a leader committed to making the community stronger for everyone.

I enjoy supporting local community efforts, as demonstrated by my current volunteer roles, which include 13 years as a volunteer with the Saanich Police Department, President of the Camosun Community Association, Board Director with Nature Victoria and volunteering with the Greater Victoria NatureHood, where I served as the lead writer and project manager for the NatureHood map distributed throughout Greater Victoria during the pandemic.

I am the proud mother of my daughter, Jess, my son, Jacob, and my stepson, Keaton.

More than just a candidate, I am invested. I believe decisions matter every day because this is our community and my home.
