I am Christine Kruger, I am a married mother of 3. I've lived in Chilliwack since 1997. I consider myself a lifelong public servant as I have been supporting children, youth and families as a social worker for 35 years. The bulk of that work has been in Chilliwack. I work for MCFD and have spent the last 15 years in adoption. I have also worked with foster care providers, child protective services and a highlight was when, for 3 years I was seconded to Xyolhemeylh Child and Family Services. Due to the breadth and depth of my work in and for the communities, I think I can bring a lens of the vulnerable and struggling in Chilliwack. Through my time in Government, I have learned the value of compromise and the art of empathetic listening. On a daily basis, I address complex issues, work within budgets and use creative and pragmatic problem solving skills.

All three of our children went through or are in the public school system. Between that experience and navigating struggles and successes with the families I serve, I have seen the value in public education. I am interested in being a listening ear for families and educators and their "voice at the table" for decisions affecting the children/youth in our city.

I believe regulated students are successful students, that public education has a responsibility to educate all children to their fullest abilities, that educators (be it teachers, EAs or administrators), need the tools and support to do their very difficult jobs, and that education is a partnership between families and educators.

If elected, you can count on me to be a person who listens to educators and families. I will focus on the growth of Chilliwack, safe learning environments, and student success. I hope I can earn your vote.
