Preeti was motivated to run for School Board after her oldest son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Her family experienced first-hand the challenges parents face navigating the school system and ensuring children receive the support and accommodations they need. That experience reinforced her commitment to ensuring every student feels safe, included, supported, and able to succeed.

Serving as a Vancouver School Board Trustee has been one of the greatest honours of Preeti’s life. Over the past four years, she has championed transparency, accountability, and responsible decision-making while advocating for expanded Automated External Defibrillator (AED) installations, additional School and Student Support Assistants, expanded music and fine arts opportunities, support for the relocation of Ideal Mini School, the introduction of the School Liaison Officer program, financial literacy initiatives, and increased investment in Vancouver’s public schools.

Preeti believes meaningful progress comes from listening, collaborating, and building strong relationships with students, families, educators, community organizations, and government partners. Her experience on the School Board has given her a strong understanding of both the challenges facing Vancouver’s public education system and the opportunities to make it stronger.

Preeti’s family has deep roots in Vancouver. Her husband’s family has been part of the community for generations, and her grandfather spent many years serving Vancouver’s Sikh community. Their example taught her that leadership is about service, humility, integrity, and compassion.
