Jeremy Caradonna

Indépendant pour Victoria Conseil
The goal is for Victoria to become the safest, most sustainable, and most affordable small city in Canada.

Climate Change, Heat, & Fires

Energy-Efficient Buildings

Build upon the Zero Carbon Step Code and shift focus to decarbonizing existing building stock.

Green Space

Victoria now has 150,000 trees. Continue to expand the urban forest canopy and green space across the city.

Private Vehicles & Parking

Continue to support EV stations, car-share, and other means of reducing reliance on private fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.

Walking & Cycling

Improve infrastructure for pedestrians, including sidewalks and crosswalks.

Housing & Homelessness

Affordability

Make life more affordable by investing in public assets that give low-cost opportunities for public use (e.g. parks, libraries, transit, arts events)

Homelessness

Continue to wind down sheltering in parks by getting folks housed.
Address disorder on Pandora by continuing to take a five-pillars approach to community safety, including housing and treatment, and by working to decentralize services concentrated downtown.

Property Taxes

Keep property tax increases to reasonable levels and continue to invest in public services that improve the lives of Victorians.

Public & Assistive Housing

Continue to approve and co-invest in non-market housing via the City, and to build affordable housing via the CRD.
This term, I served as co-chair of the CRD's Housing Corporation. I'd like to continue this leadership position next term.

Rent & Rental Stock

Approve market and non-market rentals.

Human Rights

Physical Accessibility

Support accessibility by making permanent our Accessibility Advisory Committee, which shapes how parks and streets are built, and so much more.

Recent Immigrants

Work with VIRCS and other organizations to ensure that new Canadians are supported and well integrated.

Local Government & Democracy

Good Governance

Focus on transparency and good governance.

Public Engagement

Increase public engagement.

Mental Health, Drugs, & Addiction

Mental Health Crisis Response

Work with provincial partners and service providers to address the mental health and addictions crisis in our community.

Public Spaces & Services

Biographie

I am an incumbent Victoria City Councillor, CRD Director, and Transit Commissioner. I'm proud to call Fernwood home, where I live with my wife and two kids who attend Vic High. My career has spanned academia, civil service, and small business ownership.

My first term focused on results -- getting the Crystal Pool referendum completed, winding down sheltering in parks by getting unhoused people into housing, expanding active transportation infrastructure, taking bold climate action, investing in arts and culture, and approving record numbers of housing, including thousands of non-market affordable homes.

If re-elected, my work would continue on all of the topics listed above, ensuring that downtown is safe and vibrant, building more housing of all types, and continuing to make Victoria a vibrant, sustainable, and safe place to live.

Raison de la candidature

I am running for reelection because I love this city. I have lived in Victoria for 15 years and believe it's the best small city in the world. It can be an even better place to live with the right leadership, focus, and investments to ensure that it's safe, vibrant, & affordable.
