Biographie
David Chan is the Saskatchewan Party candidate for Yorkton in the 2024 provincial election. David brings a wealth of experience as a mental health counselor, having worked closely with youth and families in local First Nations communities for the past seven years. His compassionate approach integrates emotion-focused, narrative, and person centered therapies, prioritizing safety and empathy.
What really stands out about David is his dedication to community service—he’s not only provided counselling but has also created youth programs for Indigenous youth which he ran as a volunteer. David has also worked across cultures helping develop and deliver training and retention solutions for clients. His international experience in Chile and the Middle East further enriched his cultural sensitivity, making him adaptable and effective in supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
David’s focus on practical solutions that address the 'common sense concerns' of individuals and businesses aligns perfectly with what Yorkton and Saskatchewan need right now. I'm inspired by his commitment to fostering growth while protecting our core values. I’m excited to see the positive impact he’ll bring to our community.

Raison de la candidature
Prior to moving to Yorkton, I worked in international education and business, domestically and abroad, and across cultures helping clients train and retain the valued personnel they needed. This included working with foreign governments, multinational corporations, as well as with local industry. I am excited to bring this wide range of experience, exposure, and education – including a master’s degree in international and intercultural communication – to our challenges locally and to our provincial government.
As a mental health counselor I see people from all walks of life. I’ve always been motivated by a desire to help people. Right now, what I’m seeing is there are so many people struggling behind the scenes. You just never know what someone is going through. Governments have tremendous potential to do good. But it’s about more than just fixing problems. It’s about supporting the things that make a difference in people’s lives.
I am running for the Saskatchewan Party because I believe in the vision and guiding principles of the party. Smaller, more efficient government, lower taxes, high quality healthcare, freedom and opportunity, enhancing Saskatchewan’s role in Canada and the world. With everything that’s happening on the global stage, we need to keep our community strong and our economy strong. With a strong economy and vibrant community, we can keep working on what matters to Yorkton and to our province.
