John is a long-term local business owner, and has been a volunteer in the Tantramar community for decades. Born and raised in the west, John and his wife made Sackville their home over 30 years ago, raising two sons, both graduates of Tantramar and Mount Allison University.

John received his post-secondary education – Bachelor of Arts in Geography, and Master of Natural Resource Management – from Simon Fraser University.  Prior to co-founding a consulting company focusing on First Nation issues, John was employed with the Government of Canada and the Rural and Small Town Programme at MTA.

John has served for many years as Treasurer of Christmas Cheer. He is currently co-chair and the public voice of the Rural Health Action Group. When his children were younger, his volunteer activities included roles in administration, management and/or assistant coaching in lacrosse and hockey. His previous governing experience includes serving as a Sackville Town Councillor and as Mayor.

John strongly believes in community and has a breadth of skills and knowledge he wants to continue to put to work to help positively impact Tantramar and New Brunswick.
