remis au bureau d’élection de Port Moody par le candidat

Council decisions next term will set Port Moody’s quality of life for decades to come. The pressures to overbuild at the expense of local livability have never been greater.

Whereas “moderate growth” is everyone’s catchphrase this election, the conflict that surfaced on Council last term was about development. Unlike others, my campaign will accept no donations linked to development interests. I will continue raising a clear voice for keeping growth well aligned with the OCP vision and targets, ensuring that densification strikes a more reasonable balance with other community priorities of no less importance. Next term, let’s…

  • Revitalize PoMo’s sagging economy, business tax base, and city finances with a vibrant business district downtown, bringing jobs in tech, environmental, other innovation sectors. Implement the new Economic Development Master Plan.
  • Create a more livable and human-scaled skyline, not just a wall of cookie-cutter towers. Require better architecture and climate-smart construction.
  • Prioritize the building of affordable rental units over pricey condos. Set higher affordability targets as a precondition for projects seeking big density.
  • Expand Rocky Point Park westward to meet the needs of our growing population. Ensure that Bert Flinn Park and the north shore remain safe from urban sprawl.
  • Make worsening road congestion a much bigger consideration in development decisions. Where PoMo’s basic livability is at risk, Council must draw the line.

This work is essential but seldom easy. Like you, I adhere to civility always. I welcome your continued support.
