Curb corporate power

1. Public ownership and democratic control of banks, insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, energy and natural resources, Bombardier, Air Canada, CN, and the auto and basic steel industries.
2. Amend bankruptcy laws to put workers’ wages and pensions first.

Peace & Disarmament

1. Adopt an independent Canadian foreign policy of peace and disarmament.
2. Enact boycott, divestment and sanctions on Israel.
3. Cut military spending by 75% – no new fighter jets and warships. Get out of NATO and NORAD; abolish all military alliances.
4. Sign the Treaty to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.
5. Repatriate Canadian troops and cancel military exports.

Fight Racism

1. Fight racism, ban discrimination, and prosecute hate groups as criminal organizations.
2. Scrap temporary foreign worker programs and the Safe Third Country Agreement with the US.
3. Provide labour, social and democratic rights to migrant workers, refugees and immigrants.
4. End deportations.

Defend Democratic Rights

1. Abolish secret detention without trial, national security certificates, and CSIS, the Communications Security Establishment and the RCMP (which claimed foreign interference in Canadian elections that the Hogue Commission rejected).
2. Defend the right to dissent.
3. Put police under public, democratic control.
4. Cut police budgets, and fund social services and job creation.

Halt climate change

1. Public ownership of energy.
2. Slash carbon emissions.
3. Close the tar sands and ban fracking
4. Guarantee the jobs and wages of workers in the transition to renewable energy including solar, wind, geothermal, hydro.

Create jobs

1. Build low-income social housing across Canada.
2. Cancel job-destroying ‘free trade’ deals, and enact plant closure legislation.
3. Invest in value-added manufacturing and secondary industry.
4. Build an affordable electric car, mass public transit, and inter-urban rail.
5. Retrofit and upgrade public infrastructure.
6. 32-hour work week with no loss in take-home pay

Roll back prices, raise wages, pensions & EI

1. Raise the minimum wage to $25/hr.
2. Expand Employment Insurance to cover all the unemployed for the full duration of unemployment at 90% of previous earnings.
3. Increase public pensions with full benefits at age 60.
4. A Labour Bill of Rights guaranteeing the right to strike, picket and organize.
5. Roll-back prices on food, fuel, rents.
6. Cut interest rates

Tax the greedy, not the needy

1. Double the corporate tax rate and collect deferred corporate taxes.
2. Abolish the GST/HST
3. Apply the capital gains tax to 100% of the gain.
4. Enact wealth and inheritance taxes on estates over $2 million.
5. Progressive taxation based on ability to pay – eliminate taxes on incomes under $50,000.

Make Every Vote Count

1. Enact Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) representation.

Expand universal social programs – end poverty

1. Enact a Guaranteed Annual Livable Income.
2. Enforce the Canada Health Act – reverse privatization.
3. Expand Medicare to include pharmacare, long-term care, dental and vision care, and mental healthcare.
4. Reduce drug overdose deaths with harm reduction and ‘safe supply’ policies.
5. Enact universally accessible, quality, public and free childcare.
6. Make post-secondary education free, and cancel student debt.

A new, equal & voluntary partnership

1. Recognize the right of nations to self-determination, up to and including secession.
2. Rescind the Clarity Act.
3. Draft a new Constitution based on an equal and voluntary partnership of Indigenous nations, Quebec, Acadians and English-speaking Canada.
4. Support “Land Back” and just settlement of Indigenous land claims without extinguishment of inherent title.
5. Enact the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) including the right to veto development.
6. Implement recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Inquiry.

Full Gender Equality

1. Enact universal pay and employment equity.
2. Make reproductive health services including abortion universally accessible and free.
3. Build a universally accessible, quality and free public childcare system.
4. Expand maternity and parental leave.
5. Fund equality-seeking women’s groups, crisis centres and transition houses.
6. Defend the rights of women, Trans and 2S/LGBTiQ people and end violence against them.
