I have lived in the Orleans riding since 2002. I am an Environmental Scientist with degrees from the University of Toronto and Carleton University. My objectives in becoming an active member of the PPC party is to address a lack of scientific representation in government, to counter misinformation about issues like climate change and vaccinations, and to stand up against potential threats to freedom of expression and censorship.
There is a rise in personal attacks on social media and the tendency to speak plainly makes entering any public office less appealing for those of us who are used to dealing with data and have been trained to give an answer based on facts not opinion. But I am committed to speaking my truth and representing the realities of others who may be too reluctant to speak out. I support the creation of sustainable infrastructure based on clean renewable energy, but I also realize that Canada accounts for only 1.5% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. We should be proud of that fact. I see a growing convergence of environmental crises in water, soil, fisheries, and forests. I know that Canadians value their environment and will support ideas that are practical and attainable.
