Robert Bard was born on June 12, 1966, in Ottawa and was raised by a single mother alongside two brothers and two sisters. He currently resides in Edmonton with his wife of 29 years and their rescue dog, Toby.

In 1986, Robert joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a private in the Lineman trade and steadily advanced through the ranks to Master Warrant Officer before receiving a commission to Captain and retiring as a Major. One of his last units he served in was as Deputy commanding Officer of the 3rd Canadian Divisional Support Group – Signal Squadron, supporting army communications across Western Canada, from Manitoba to British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Throughout his military career, Robert gained extensive experience in installing and maintaining telecommunication infrastructures and antenna structures across Canada. His service took him across the country from Labrador to Comox, British Columbia, and beyond the 60th parallel. He was deployed to Baden, Germany, and later to Afghanistan in 2007, where he served as Line Chief Foreman for Operation Athena. In 2017, he took part in Operation Unifier as a Signals Officer in Ukraine.

Robert is widely recognized for his strong work ethic, logical mindset, and leadership. His career success, supported by his dedication and the unwavering support of his wife, reflects his commitment to service.
