Council should be a careful steward of the community. Good decisions start with basic questions: What problem are we solving? What evidence supports the proposal? What alternatives have been considered? Who pays, and will residents’ quality of life improve?

Residents should be involved while meaningful options remain open, not after a preferred direction has effectively been decided. Their questions deserve clear answers, and Council should explain how public input influenced the final decision.

I will support community-informed planning that addresses demonstrated needs while protecting West Vancouver’s character, livability and finite infrastructure capacity. Growth should be evaluated cumulatively, not project by project, with careful consideration of impacts on traffic, utilities, the environment, and municipal services.

Financially, I will prioritize maintaining core services, infrastructure and existing facilities before pursuing major expansions. Significant commitments should clearly disclose their full life-cycle costs, funding sources, trade-offs and implications for taxpayers. Council’s role is not simply to spend less or do more, but to make disciplined, transparent decisions that deliver lasting value for residents.
