Biographie

soumis par le candidat ou son équipe
Alan practiced law in Vancouver for over a decade providing solutions and ensuring businesses flourished.

As an entrepreneur, Alan employed over 37 people and well understands that high taxes and red tape only hurt business.

Alan will work hard for you!

Alan Beesley is honoured to run as a Candidate for the people of Vancouver Langara.

Alan: “The ping pong politics of polarization are not working for British Columbians. CentreBC offers you the opportunity to vote for a party, rather than against one.”

Economy: Alan has a deep concern for BC’s waning financial strength and its vulnerability to economic threats from the current U.S. Administration. The NDP deficit of $13.4B will limit our options to deal with U.S. tariffs targeting industry in B.C.

The Conservatives have promised not to raise taxes but have failed to say what services they would cut or what assets they would sell. They should be honest about their intent. Privatizing ICBC or BC Hydro will only lead to higher rates as we have seen in Alberta.

Background: Alan practised law in Vancouver for over a decade solving problems for clients and helping small businesses flourish. Alan then ventured into business in Tofino rezoning real estate and owned and operated a Fish Buying Station. The Station made 30 tons of ice per day for the commercial fishery providing new market opportunities for the First Nations Fishery. Alan built and opened the Ice House Oyster Bar, a restaurant with 35 employees specializing in First Nations caught seafood. As a businessman, he well appreciates the need for less Provincial red tape and lower taxes for businesses to flourish.

Public Service: Alan grew up in a family dedicated to public service. Alan’s mother, a nurse with the Sisters of St. Ann. Alan’s father, a diplomat and negotiator, was Canada’s first Ambassador for Disarmament, Ambassador for The Law of The Sea Convention and Ambassador for the Preservation of the Marine Environment. Public service runs in the family.

Education: Alan graduated from high school in Canberra, Australia. Alan studied Liberal Arts at Fordham, a Jesuit (Catholic) University in New York, and International Relations at Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. Alan then moved back to Vancouver and graduated with a B.A. from UBC and then an LLB from UBC Law School. Alan was admitted to the BC Bar in 1989 and the New York Bar in 1991. Alan tree planted in the interior of B.C. to pay his way through university.

Community Service: Alan’s commitment is reflected in his volunteer experience both locally and internationally. Positions as Red Cross Site Team Lead at Fraser Regional Correctional Centre, International Election Observer for the Presidential Elections in Ukraine with the Canadian Mission as well Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. While in law school, Alan provided legal assistance to those in need at the Carnegie Centre at Hastings and Main. Alan was President of the UBC Debating Society and Captain of the Men’s Eight Rowing Crew at Fordham University. Teamwork is what Alan is all about.

Engagement: Alan invites all candidates in Vancouver Langara to discuss and debate policy anywhere, anytime. A strong voice in Victoria, begins in Vancouver Langara. Why would any candidate hesitate at such an opportunity?

The Promise: Alan will listen, learn, work hard, solve problems, create opportunities, and be an effective voice for the people of Vancouver Langara.

The people of Vancouver Langara deserve an opportunity for a moderate party. The politics of ideology and the extreme are not working for British Columbians.

I promise to listen, learn, solve problems and be an effective voice for Vancouver Langara.
