My working life has given me a wide view of Mission and the surrounding area. I've worked as a Telus technician here and in neighbouring communities, and as a truck driver, including delivery runs into Mission. I've also worked in the Provincial Court system in Vancouver, as a clerk in the violation ticket center when it was first created, and I've worked for the City of Abbotsford's sanitation department and the City of Port Coquitlam in public works. I also ran my own telecommunications subcontracting business for four years, subcontracting to TELUS, Shaw, and others — handling all the finances, ordering, hiring, and training myself — before COVID forced me to shut it down. Growing up, I watched my father build his own business from the ground up into one of the top 1000 businesses in North America, so I've seen firsthand what it takes to run something well, at scale, over the long term. I'm disabled, and that experience has only strengthened my belief that our community needs to be built with everyone in mind, including people with different abilities. I also have an active application to become an on-call emergency services volunteer, and I currently hold a driver-only position with the BC Ambulance Service while going through my paramedic training — service to this community is something I want to keep giving, in whatever form I can.
