Worker. Renter. Experienced advocate.

I know what everyday life costs, and I’m running to bring practical experience and everyday voices to City Council.

I’m someone who has taken a pretty unconventional path to public service.

I’ve worked in government, agriculture, small business, non-profits, hospitality and management. I’ve worked on farms and in offices, managed people and budgets, run my own small business, and lived and worked overseas. Today, I help people navigate government, solve problems and access the services and supports they need.

I didn't take a traditional path through education either. I returned to school as an adult and earned my Business Administration diploma from Okanagan College, specializing in human resources and continuing my studies in accounting. Going back to school later in life taught me something I already suspected about myself: I love learning, I'm not afraid of hard work, and I'm stubborn enough to keep going when something matters to me.

That varied life experience is one of the things I would bring to Council. I've been an employee and an employer. I've been self-employed. I've worked in the private, public and non-profit sectors. I've lived in different countries and communities and worked alongside people whose lives and perspectives were very different from mine.

I've also experienced the realities that don't always show up in policy documents. I work for a paycheque. I rent my home and share it with my senior mother. I know what rising costs mean at the kitchen table, and I understand why people want to know that their tax dollars are being spent carefully.

I’m Métis and an active member of my local Métis community. Community service has taught me the importance of listening, building relationships and making room for perspectives that haven't always been represented around decision-making tables.

Outside of work and politics, I'm happiest gardening, kayaking, creating art and beadwork, cooking, or spending time with the people I care about.

I don't fit neatly into one box, and I think that's a strength. I bring curiosity, resilience, practical experience and a willingness to listen and do the homework before making a decision.

Most importantly, I bring the perspective of someone who lives an ordinary life in this community and believes those experiences belong at the council table too.

Raison de la candidature

I’m running because everyday people deserve a voice at the council table. I know what it’s like to work for a paycheque and worry about rising costs. I want Vernon to remain a place where ordinary people can afford to live, work, raise families and build a good life.

Vernon has been there for me when I needed it, and I reached a point where I felt a responsibility to give something back.

I've experienced how much a community can matter when life doesn't go according to plan. I've had to rebuild, change direction and start over more than once, and along the way I've benefited from the people, opportunities and public systems that helped me get back on my feet. Those experiences changed the way I think about public service. A strong community isn't just something we inherit. It's something each generation has a responsibility to contribute to.

My work has reinforced that belief. Every day I see people trying to navigate systems that can be complicated and intimidating, and I've learned how much it matters to have someone willing to listen, find an answer and advocate when something isn't working. I want to bring that same approach to City Council.

We're also at an important moment for Vernon. Our city is growing, major projects are coming, and decisions being made now about housing, infrastructure, development and our economy will shape Vernon for decades. I don't want growth to simply happen to us. I want us to be thoughtful about what we're building, what it will cost, and whether the Vernon we're creating will still work for the people who call it home.

Municipal government can't control every pressure people are facing, but the decisions Council makes have real consequences. I want affordability to be part of those decisions, infrastructure to keep pace with growth, and taxpayers to know their money is being treated with care.

I've had a varied life and career, and it has taught me that I can walk into unfamiliar situations, learn quickly, work with very different people and keep going when things get difficult. I believe those experiences would make me a useful voice around the council table.

Most of all, I want someone at that table asking a simple question when decisions are made: What does this mean for the people who actually have to live with it and pay for it?

Vernon has given me a lot. I'm running because I'm ready to give something back.
