As a trustee, my priorities include planning and policies that support:
- Fiscal responsibility and careful stewardship of public resources.
- Academic excellence and opportunity for all students, including individualized support for students with diverse needs and English language learners.
- Strong literacy and numeracy, recognizing that reading and math are foundational skills that support success in every other area of life.
- Effective assessment tools, including advocacy at the provincial level for better ways to measure and support student learning.
- A strong sense of belonging, one of the most important things schools can foster to help students thrive.
- Internet safety and responsible use of AI, issues that are increasingly important considerations in our schools and in the work of trustees.
Biographie
My interest in education governance began as a parent at Gleneagles Elementary, where I saw firsthand the importance of ensuring parents’ voices are heard. I later joined the Rockridge PAC executive and served as Co-Chair, followed by being elected President of the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC), representing parents across our three communities.
Since first being elected to the School Board in 2014, I have served on numerous local, regional and provincial trustee committees. These roles provide opportunities to advocate for students, families and staff, bring additional resources into our education system, and work toward positive changes for our schools.
I’m running for re-election because our students deserve an excellent educational experience, with opportunities that prepare them for the paths they choose in life. West Vancouver is recognized for the strength of its public schools, and I want to help ensure that success continues. Throughout my time as a trustee, I have worked to support strong learning environments for all students, including those with diverse needs and English language learners, and I look forward to continuing that work.
Raison de la candidature
Provincial advocacy is one of the ways we can make a real difference for local students and staff, and I have the experience and enthusiasm to do this work on behalf of our district. Our administrators are leaders in their field, helping us attract excellent teachers, many of whom have been recognized by their colleagues across the country. Despite limited resources, we have built a culture that encourages innovation and excellence, and I believe my experience and track record can help contribute to that continued success.
