My name is Jacquelyn Wickham and I am humbled and excited to announce that I am running for School Trustee in Mission Public Schools.

I am a mother of three children who currently attend Mission Public Schools in middle and elementary school. I have been a strong advocate for students and families. I bring a background in volunteer experience within Mission Public Schools, including positions as Treasurer and Chair for our District PAC. In these roles, I prioritized bringing parents' and families' perspectives to school district decisions.

If elected as school trustee, my top priorities are:

*Prioritize student’s learning and experience during the budgeting process, this means fighting to ensure that we prioritize teachers, EAs and other school-based staff.

*Meaningful consultation is necessary for the best decision-making. I will listen to perspectives with the respect and honour that is deserved.

*Accountability should be the cornerstone of elected officials; I strive to continually improve, learn, and be a better representative and advocate for our school district.

*Align the strategic plan to be deliverable and actionable and have easily accessible documentation to show how the school district is performing on identified indicators. This will help provide a greater sense of direction and accountability.

I have had the pleasure of volunteering alongside board members, staff, and families. I love this community where my three children, husband and I are firmly rooted. I grew up in Mission and chose to return to raise my children here. I believe that in order for children to truly thrive, we need the educational experiences for all the students to be lifted. I understand the tenacity and work that so many parents have to undertake to help their child grow and develop to their fullest. It is with this understanding, that I bring the same tenacity of spirit to help advocate for every student in our school district.
