Strengthen public safety and mental-health supports: Support police, fire and emergency services, strengthen programs such as Car 67 and youth prevention initiatives, and pursue partnerships for better long-term mental-health services.
Make City Hall more accessible: Improve communication with Coquitlam's diverse communities, reduce unnecessary barriers and make municipal services easier for residents and businesses to navigate.
Biographie
Harvey Su has called Coquitlam home since 2007, where he has built his life, raised his family and become deeply involved in the community.
Harvey holds an MSc from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the Wharton School. After completing his graduate studies at UBC, he worked as a lab manager before becoming an entrepreneur. He brings more than 20 years of experience in business, education and community service.
Harvey ran for Coquitlam City Council in 2022, finishing just outside the eight council seats. Since then, he has remained actively involved in the community. He has continued advocating for expanded West Coast Express service, organized community and cultural events, supported local charities and non-profit organizations, and brought practical ideas forward to the City.
In 2023, Harvey recommended integrating Google Translate into the City of Coquitlam website to make municipal information more accessible to residents from different linguistic backgrounds. He later recommended accepting Triangle Mastercard for property tax payments. Both recommendations were subsequently implemented by the City.
Harvey has served as President of the Golden Maple Multicultural Society and the Westwood Plateau Community Association, as well as a Director of the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society. He has supported organizations including SHARE Family and Community Services, KidSport, the SD43 Education Foundation, Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation and FoodLink Society.
He has also organized Lunar New Year galas, block parties, cultural events and fundraising initiatives, including a fashion show fundraiser supporting Freshet News and local journalism.
Harvey believes that community service is something you do all the time, not only during an election.
His vision is for Coquitlam to continue evolving from a bedroom community into a complete community, with infrastructure keeping pace with growth and a city that is more affordable, vibrant, livable and better connected.
