Biographie
Ian Gartshore, the BC Green Party candidate for Vernon-Lumby, brings a wealth of experience in community service, sustainability, and mental health advocacy to his campaign. Raised in Edmonton during the 1960s oil boom, Ian witnessed firsthand the impact of the energy sector on society and the environment, shaping his commitment to careful energy use and conservation.
With a background in electronics and two master’s degrees, including one in marriage and family therapy, Ian has dedicated much of his career to improving the lives of individuals and families. In Nanaimo, he founded a non-profit counselling agency, which he ran for many years, offering valuable mental health support to the community.
A strong advocate for environmental sustainability, Ian started Shore Energy Solutions to help reduce energy waste in homes and businesses. He personally implemented eco-friendly solutions in his own home, showcasing his belief in practical action for a sustainable future. Ian also introduced car-sharing to Nanaimo, encouraging more environmentally conscious transportation.
Ian is running for the BC Green Party to strengthen democracy and advocate for health and a sustainable future in British Columbia. His hands-on experience in community building, mental health, and environmental action makes him a compelling choice for Vernon-Lumby. He aims to work collaboratively in the legislature, providing a sensible and inclusive option for British Columbians.
