Comprehensive Housing Action plan that experts say will create 300,000 homes over the next decade; eliminate municipal government restrictions on small multi-unit homes; crack down on standalone AirBNB's, turning thousands of short term rentals into long-term homes for people; capping rent increases to inflation; speculation tax turning 20,000 empty units into long-term homes. Our efforts are paying off and we are already seeing a drop in the average price of rent in Metro Vancouver.
Healthcare: Taking action to cut wait times; building or expanding 29 hospitals across the province, including a new hospital and cancer centre in Cloverdale, which has been under construction for a year; hired over 800 doctors in the last year, connecting 400,000 people to a doctor or nurse practitioner - with more to come; adding 128 spaces to UBC medical school and building a new medical school at SFU Surrey; eliminating unfair MSP premiums, saving $1800 per family; tripling the capacity of program to credential internationally-trained doctors to get more trained health workers on the front lines.
David Eby and the BC NDP are taking action to build an economy that works for everyone, not just powerful interests. Under David Eby, BC's economy is one of the strongest in the country and the fastest growing of any major province. We have created more than 250,000 jobs since 2017, including some of the strongest private sector job growth in the country, with the highest wage growth among provinces. In the last 2 years, BC attracted a record-setting $117 billion in capital investment.
We have delivered much already but there is much more to do. David Eby and the BC NDP will not stop working for British Columbians to ensure that everyone has a safe place to live, good quality healthcare and all the benefits of a good life here in British Columbia!
