Biographie
Ashley Ramsay was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. before spending her high school years in Kelowna. After graduation, Ashley pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. As an entrepreneur at heart, Ashley later founded two micro-businesses – one in tech and one in baby goods manufacturing – before launching her widely successful, award-winning animation studio, Yeti Farm Creative. This latest venture created hundreds of jobs and generated tens of millions of dollars in economic activity for Kelowna in the heart of Kelowna’s cultural district and produced notable titles such as Hotel Transylvania, Max and Ruby, and Pete the Cat.
As a prominent figure in Kelowna’s tech industry, Ashley is well-known for her dedication to job creation, economic diversification, supporting women in tech and entrepreneurship, technological innovation, and expanding post-secondary education, particularly in the Okanagan region. For 11 years, Ashley has dedicated herself to serving the province and the constituents of Kelowna through her numerous appointments to provincial and Crown boards. These include the BC Small Business Roundtable, the Canadian Media Producers Association, Accelerate Okanagan Technology Association, Innovate BC, and the Leadership Roundtable of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus. Through these appointments, Ashley has gained first-hand knowledge of the critical issues facing nearly every sector of the economy, which directly impact the quality of life for families. She continues to serve in these roles today.
Ashley is a champion and innovator of new ideas to reduce bureaucratic red tape, enhance business support, and promote economic diversification while bridging gaps between sectors. Ashley finds joy in connecting individuals across industries, facilitating collaborations and linkages among industry, technology and innovation. Additionally, Ashley’s contributions to the educational development Advisory Boards of both the Okanagan College and the Centre for Arts and Technology Okanagan have shaped world-class programs, resulting in hundreds of graduates with relevant and contemporary diplomas.
Ashley’s extensive experience in directly affecting policy change and advancing prosperity for the region is unmatched as she represents her constituents in the B.C. Legislature. Ashley works tirelessly pursuing her passion to serve with dedication and relentless passion, always keeping her door open to listen to stories and ideas. Ashley envisions a future with swift implementation of necessary changes to address the community’s and province’s most pressing needs.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Ashley enjoys the offerings of the Okanagan lifestyle with her husband and two children. She is also an active contributor to community organizations such as the Big White Ski Club, 100 Women Who Care, OKGN WMAN, Empower Women Canada, and The Women’s Enterprise Centre. Ashley has served as a mentor for many businesses and continues to keep her finger on the pulse in the community.
