I want to end homelessness in Langley and all of BC if I am successful. I have a plan for this and believe with all my heart that it can be done and that I am the right person to do it given that I have experience in this matter and have volunteered for homeless shelters in the past. I know how to connect and what is needed to help these people get off the streets for good.
I want to analyze and correct flawed infrastructure in densely populated Langley East areas. ie. Willoughby for example. We can not keep adding more residences without addressing the narrow roads and lack of available parking. This is frustrating for those that live in the area.
Our forestry industry has been suffering immensely for over 5 years in BC and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. I would support legislation that would put an end to sending raw logs to other countries to be processed. There is absolutely no good reason why we can't process them here at home when we have people losing jobs. This would also allow us to get the best prices for our resources through value added products. I would also support legislation that protects old growth forests from logging ventures because protecting the unique, biodiversity in these ecosystems should be of the utmost importance to all of us. I would also support legislation that pushes the industry to harvest from second growth forests or finding alternatives to wood that can help supplement the industry with new innovative products and help it adapt to the changing market. Through innovation, alternatives, communication, teamwork, and conservation we can find a way to reinvigorate this industry, create jobs, and once again have an abundance of pristine forests in BC.
As we all know our energy industries are also suffering. I would support our energy industries by creating a program that cross trains workers in renewable energies so they can transition with the knowledge they need to succeed. I would support finding new materials and/or technologies that would ensure safety during transport and minimal to no spills. To further ensure spills do not happen, I would implement legislation that would require companies to hire individuals whose sole jobs are to monitor the length of the pipelines in person on a daily basis. This will allow us to get our natural gas and oil products to market so we would be able to fund the efforts in renewable energy safely. I would only support pipelines if the people whose land will be affected by said pipelines are involved every step of the way, including the route of said pipelines. There is no reason why we should be endangering communities and their drinking water. I would also be supportive of building refineries here at home so we can process our goods ourselves.
I would push for funding for WTE (Waste to Energy) plants like what Sweden is using to heat homes. Without putting anyone out we could work with energy companies already operating in BC by having them invest in this project and employ their own people. Refuse being a renewable resource, there would always be fuel to keep the plant up and running. The power produced could then be redistributed to the people at a lower cost. They have no more landfills, the plants produce zero emissions, and costs on energy to customers is low. These plants will create jobs and a cleaner, healthier environment. If you'd like to know more about these please feel free to read about them here.
Another way we can reduce emissions and ensure the safety of the environment is by drafting a program that gets every home and business in BC fashioned with solar panels to at least supplement their energy needs. Introducing such a program would create jobs due to the sheer size of work that will need to be done to bring this to fruition. Some ideas on how to make this happen would be by negotiating lower prices for BC residents so solar panel installations are affordable for your average family or small business, getting sponsors for the program who have the funds available, reallocating provincial funding, donations, fundraisers, investors etc. This is where cross training individuals in oil and gas at danger of losing their jobs to renewables is of the utmost importance to avoid higher umemployment and angry industry workers.
I want to support small businesses over large corporations and be their voice in the legislature in case another lock down is proposed. Another lock down will decimate small businesses. They are the life blood of this country. Without them we become dependent on big box stores and the Government. Unemployment is already at 1 million jobless in Canada from the first lock down we can not go into another one. We have the worst unemployment rate out of all the G7 nations. I want to ensure we keep our small businesses because they provide the majority of jobs in our society. Losing them means losing more jobs which slowly moves our middle class into poverty making them dependent on the system for survival.
I would also pursue the removal of Covid restrictions due to the lack of science and honest reporting on how severe the issue really is. I have done the math and all these regulations are doing is causing a slow death to the small businesses that are still operating through the pandemic. We have had 235 deaths in BC due to Covid the majority of those have been in care homes in individuals with 2-3 comorbidities with an average age of 85. In a population of 5.5 million that is 0.004%. Traditionally, quarantines are for the sick and the vulnerable. Even healthy high risk groups have been shown to have a 94% recovery rate. You take the proper precautions with those at risk not on healthy people and this should be done to avoid ALL transmissible illnesses in care homes NOT just Covid since the very old and very sick are vulnerable to everything. I would also hope that extra precautions would be implemented in a humane way. The restrictions and recommendations on the healthy population and their businesses is not warranted and should be done away with especially since the science doesn't support sanitizer, masks, and socially distancing tables and customers for curbing spread of illnesses in the general public. Yes I said that. Let's talk about it if you don't believe me.
I want to encourage innovators into creating new schooling platforms in Langley and all of BC if we come up with something great. With public schools implementing measures that restrict the freedom of children to learn and play normally many have pulled their children from public education. Every child has a right to education no matter their background, race, religion, medical status, gender, or economic standing so we need to come up with something that allows parents the ability to get their child educated while still being able to work and support their family. Some examples of what I have seen that could be the answer to the lack of public schooling that suits citizens wants and needs are, forest schools, pod schools, home schooling co-op groups, etc.
I want to get masks and social distancing OUT of schools so children can return to living normally. Children should not be subjected to these extreme measures against an illness that they rarely transmit and do not suffer severe illness from. This is supported by Vancouver Coastal Health and various medical professionals across Canada. Children need to have free play and read facial cues for proper development. Children also need to have healthy exchanges of bacteria and organisms in order to build immunity to pathogens in our environment. Forcing social distancing on children goes against nature and will only serve to make children sicker in the future. I have already been privy to numerous stories of the ill effects these measures are having on our children's physical and mental health. Let's let kids be kids. We do not want to traumatize an entire generation
I want to dispel the fear that has been created regarding Covid-19 by sharing relevant information that isn't being shared with the people of BC through Public Health or the NDP Government. I realize that many will be taken aback by that statement but the past 10 months I have seen all of humanity forget what it is to truly be human. We are scared to be around, touch, and hug each other. We are lashing out at those who can't or won't wear masks despite there being a plethora of reasons someone may not wear a mask, medical or otherwise. This is largely due to sensationalized media outlets inundating everyone with constant Covid coverage and our government deliberately omitting pertinent information that would help ease fears. The truth needs to be told and those perpetuating the lie need to be called out. I want to be the one challenging our current leaders by asking the tough questions that nobody gets to ask them. This is becoming increasingly more difficult due to censorship but I have quite a bit of proof despite that. I feel that those in charge need to answer some serious questions before everyone lets them make anymore decisions regarding Covid-19 and the measures we take to curb it's spread. Help me help you!
I want to put a focus on integrated healthcare and introduce legislation that would allow BC residents to access more than allopathic medicine through MSP. 44% of Canada's adult population suffer from chronic illness, cancer and heart disease are rampant, allergies and auto immunity have sky rocketed, alzheimers and dementia is affecting a large portion of our elderly population etc. In order to build a healthier community we need to put more focus on building health through nutrition and encourage physicians from all medical fields to seek out the root cause of issues as oppose to just writing a prescription for everything. It is not normal that everyone around you is suffering from various things. This is a direct result of a sick care system meant to turn a profit for those that participate in it. I, ideally, would like to see BC become a leader in scientific studies on alternative therapies. I feel that the allopathic model of medicine should not be the only avenue we seek out for treatment considering the state of health of people in Canada is far from healthy after using it predominately for over 100 years.
Another massive issue I would like to tackle is the danger our elderly in care homes are in. Not only from the danger of Covid-19 but from isolation and lack of proper care. I have seen a lot of horror stories this year with what is happening in these homes. My Grandfather in Ontario is one of these victims of isolation. He no longer remembers his family, is being put on prescription after prescription, and is violent and angry towards his caregivers. He went in for a broken hip and is now just a shell of himself. My families experience is not an isolated incident. This is happening all over Canada and the world for that matter. I feel, we should allow family in to see their loved ones so long as the proper precautions are taken to ensure their safety. We can not allow our elderly to die alone in the throws of depression and sadness from isolation away from their friends and family. What is life if we can not enjoy it and how are they supposed to live like this for years to come like the NDP government has planned? Free our elderly and let them decide as adults if they would rather risk the virus or be without connection for the foreseeable future.
I want to write and introduce legislation that would hold our politicians accountable for their poor choices that hurt our communities and the people. If an MLA does not perform adequately their pay should be docked. No MLA should be receiving a salary of $100000 or more for doing nothing truly beneficial for their riding or province. If an MLA is caught engaged in criminal activity they should be subject to the same laws that all of us are, as well, they should lose their pensions that are bought and paid for by the taxpayers of BC. No more special treatment!
I would push for legislation that holds media conglomerates responsible for spun half-truth stories that induce fear in the public unnecessarily. I would like to see journalism once again become a pursuit for the truth as oppose to the bought and paid for entity it has become today. Fines for first offenses and jail time for repeat offenders. The media has a responsibility to be unbiased and honest with it's reporting. Considering how much influence they have over the masses it should be criminal for not telling the whole truth and sowing division among BC residents and/or Canadians.
I would push the Legislative Assembly to acknowledge the genocide, continued mistreatment, and territorial land rights of our indigenous peoples so we could begin the reconciliation process and become a strong and united province. If I were in federal politics I would abolish the Indian Act but unfortunately I'm not so I have to focus on what I can do for the people here. I would also like to hear from our First Nation communities in order to know what else I could do to help restore their faith in the BC government.
I would push for changes in the food that we feed our children in schools, our elderly in care homes, and patients in hospitals. I envision food programs that are nutritious, void of processed foods and preferably organic as pesticides build up in our bodies causing a whole array of health issues that put stress on our medical services and cost the province money.
I would fight to have Order In Council 376 repealed as Orders in Council are undemocratic and unlawful. This specific OIC infringes on the privacy rights of BC citizens. No citizen should be forced to divulge private medical information that opens the doors for discrimination and mistreatment by school and medical staff.
I would fight to have the Infants Act amended in order to protect children from being coerced or influenced in schools or clinical settings into consenting to products or procedures that they more often than not DO NOT receive informed consent for. I would also amend it so the parents of these children are to be informed of what the child consented to so in the case of adverse reactions, parents would know the information needed to share with medical staff when the child is unable to. I would also push for repercussions for anyone that chose to coerce a child without giving full and complete informed consent.
There are so many more issues that I want to include on my platform but these are the biggest ticket items for me.
If there are other issues you would like to talk to me about please feel free to contact me and we can have a genuine real conversation about how we can make Langley and BC a better place to live for all of us.
With love and light,
Tara Reeve
Biographie
My name is Tara Reeve.
I'm 37 years old.
I'm a mother to 3 beautiful kids. A 20 year old, a 4 year old, and an almost 2 year old.
I am the wife of a hard working, handsome man who I have been blessed to spend 8 years of my life with this Thanksgiving.
I am the daughter of a veteran who spent 20+ years serving our country in our military as well as the Royal Canadian Airforce and my deceased mother who instilled in me a genuine love for all people no matter their race, background, gender, sexual orientation, religion or economic standing.
I am an activist for many causes. I am passionate about freedom and prosperity for all. I am on a mission to hold the greedy, corrupt, individuals in government and industry accountable for their poor choices that have affected everything from our society, our relationships, our environment, our freedoms, and our rights. I want to shine light on all the darkness in the world so we can start to heal and fix things.
I stand for truth and transparency in government as well as freedom in all its forms so long as said freedom does not impose harm on another person excluding perceived harms that aren't actually harmful, for example, someone not wearing a mask in public (If you'd like to know why I feel this way about masks just ask me politely and I will answer).
I am a huge proponent for open debate and looking at both sides of any and all issues. I value dissenting voices and abhor censorship, unless of course, whats being censored is prejudice or racist. A little self education, patience, and an open mind can lead to some of the most fruitful discussions which lead to positive solutions to whatever issue is being discussed.
I have a blue collar background. I have held various jobs throughout my life. Accounts Receivable, Receptionist, Server/Bartender, Car Detailer, Sales Associate, and, the best and hardest job of all, Stay At Home Mom.
I have lived a hard life full of struggles which is why I feel I am perfect to serve the people. I know what it's like to suffer and what it feels like when people just don't seem to care.
I am not a politician. I am just someone that sees the state of our city, province, and country and wishes to make bonified changes that will benefit all of us and encourage a healthier, happier, and safer community where everyone can thrive and live how they so choose.
Despite my inexperience in this field I am a fast learner and with something like this where I actually get the opportunity to make REAL change I will do everything in my power to educate myself so I can make the best decisions for all of us. I also am not opposed to asking for help when I am unsure of how to approach something. Truth is, I want the community involved in the process as much as possible.
I am an open book. If you want to know something about me then by all means ask me. I will be happy to discuss it so long as the discussion is civil and conducted in a mature manner.
I am not a perfect person and I have a colorful past, however, I am not a criminal and I am not in this to deceive others. In fact, I'm not even in this for the money as I plan to donate half my paycheque to projects in Langley East that will build up our community if I get voted in.
If these qualities resonate with you please share my campaign page and help promote me to your friends, relatives, and colleague's in the Langley East riding.
My website is up and running and I am just about ready to get myself out into the community. If you'd like to help in any way feel free to contact me.
Raison de la candidature
When I look at our society I see homelessness, high overdoses, high alcoholism, high taxes, high suicides, rising domestic/child abuse, major mental health issues, a lack of solutions for those issues, policies that harm the environment, policies and laws that infringe on the rights and freedoms of various demographics, missing indigenous women and children, division among the people, a housing crisis, high unemployment, an exorbitantly high deficit, a Government that seems hell bent on handing over all of our industries to foreign political entities and rich bureaucrats, a Government that does not look at both sides of issues thoroughly before making decisions, a Government that uses coercion and the media to pressure and instill fear in their citizens so they comply with various things, and the list can go on and on.
I am running because I am tired of standing by and doing nothing while these people destroy lives, our health, our communities, and steal from the tax payers to further their agendas or to buy their votes with their own money.
I've had enough and it is time for change. Hopefully I can show the people that change is entirely possible when you put your faith in the right individuals.
We need people without agendas or party lines to tow to truly make a difference in ALL of our lives. We need balance and structure and to hold the irresponsible civil servants accountable for their poor choices which have lead to our present situation in Canada and B.C.
