Funky Banjoko is a politician, and she is running in the 2023 Provincial Election for Member of Legislative Assembly MLA – fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.

 Funky is currently sitting on the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo RMWB Council.

Funky migrated to Canada in 2009 and arrived fort McMurray to take a job in the oil sands as a supply chain management professional in 2011.

In 2021 she began her campaign. Her style was distinctive and her tireless campaigning outside every door/ reaching every audience, paid off.

On October 19th, 2021, Funky made history as she became the first black person (man or woman) to be elected to the RMWB’s Council.

Funky is an independent candidate, she is a candidate to watch given her performance in the municipality election in 2021 taking the lead of the 24 candidates who ran for ward 1.
